On reading the Bible

An observation I’ve made is that it’s really helpful to read the Bible in big chunks. In my last post I noted the usage of a term, which I could have missed if I were reading a chapter or a few verses at a time. When reading through 1 and 2 Timothy, (the entire book in one sitting) I couldn’t help noticing an emphasis on false teachers. 1 and 2 Peter have a theme of suffering in them. From the few verses I know from these books, I’d never have known.

Thinking of it, it makes sense, since the Bible writers didn’t put the chapter-verse divisions in. So, I highly recommend big chunks at a time, possibly repeated over  a few consecutive days to get what you may have missed previously.
